Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Wisconsin Honored with National 2015 Gold Standard Award

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Wisconsin (BBBSCW) is proud to announce that we have been nationally recognized for the superior quality of our programs with Big Brothers Big Sisters Nationwide Leadership Council’s 2015 Gold Standard Award!

Only six percent of all Big Brothers Big Sisters Agencies receive this high of a standard. This honor validates the significant work of our staff and volunteers to grow and deepen our impact while maintaining exceptional standards of quality and a focus on serving children throughout Central Wisconsin.

Research has shown that Big and Little relationships lasting at least 12 months yield the greatest outcomes in academic achievement, interpersonal skills, self-esteem and healthy decision making. Additionally, high-quality, consistent support from the agencies Match Support Specialists is a determining factor in the length and strength of the Big and Little relationship.

Agencies receiving the Gold Standard award met or exceeded the following benchmarks in 2015:

-Served a minimum of 150 children and raised at least $150,000 in revenue

-Achieved a community-based 12-month retention rate of 64% or higher

-Achieved a site-based 12-month retention rate of 41% or higher

-Maintained a Match Support contact done rate of 90% or higher

-Grew the number of end active matches

-Increased revenue by 5% or more

Thanks to your continued support, we are committed to continue to empower children throughout Central Wisconsin.

Big Brothers Big Sisters Fact Sheet

For more than 100 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters has operated under the belief that inherent in every child is the ability to succeed and thrive in life. Most children served by Big Brothers Big Sisters live in single-parent and low-income families, or households where a parent is incarcerated. As the nation’s largest donor and volunteer supported mentoring network, Big Brothers Big Sisters makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers (“Bigs”) and children (“Littles”). Providing a system of ongoing evaluation and support, Big Brothers Big Sisters is proven by independent studies to help families by improving the odds that Littles will perform better in school and avoid violence and illegal activities, and have stronger relationships with their parents and others. Headquartered in Philadelphia with a network of nearly 400 agencies across the country, Big Brothers Big Sisters serves a quarter million children annually.
