Our Programs

Big Brothers Big Sisters unites young people (Littles) with caring, positive adult role models (Bigs) in professionally supported one-to-one mentoring friendships. Each match is overseen by a Match Specialist to ensure safety, consistency, and relationship development.

Community-Based Mentoring

Bigs meet with their Little’s after school, in the evenings, or on the weekends to hang out in the community. Scheduling is based on what works best for the Big and the Little’s family.  Matches are encouraged to take part in low-cost/no-cost outings. Activities like playing in a park, going to a library, doing arts and crafts, or taking a walk/hike —the possibilities are endless! Outings occur weekly for just one hour each week.

Community-Based mentors must be at least 18 years old, have a valid driver’s license and auto insurance, and pass a comprehensive background check.

Site-Based Mentoring

Bigs visit once a week with their Littles at the child’s school or in partnership with the Boys & Girls Club either during their Little’s lunch and recess or after school. Matches can eat lunch, talk, play games, or create art.

Site-Based mentors are at least 16* years old, have transportation to get to a Site weekly, and must pass a comprehensive background check. *(Some High School Big partnerships will allow younger mentors to become Bigs if the elementary school is close enough to the high school.)
